Spooky Books for Fall

I’m not one for spooky reads. Yes, I read a lot of thrillers and suspense books that are pretty dark, but I’d never describe myself as someone who enjoys “spooky”. However, I’m working on broadening my horizons, so I have researched the quintessential spooky books for fall.

While you’re looking across the internet, follow me on TikTok! Yes, I did give in and create a #booktok account to talk even more about books…

Books I’ve Read…

A few books I’ve read actually qualify as a spooky book for fall! They’ve shown up on other book lovers’ lists and in my research and, of course, all over Goodreads.

Books I Want to Read…

Like I said, I’m trying to broaden my horizons and read more than YA sci-fi series and Lisa Gardner books (though there is NOTHING wrong with either). These are spooky books for fall that have come up at book club or in my research.

Books My Friends Told Me to Read…

I put out one of those question boxes on my Instagram story and asked for some recommendations. While no one gave me a specific book, my friends did recommend some seriously spooky authors.

  • Alice Hoffman – Put her on the “witchy” end of things, but she’s great for a little bit of magic.
  • Stephen King
  • Agatha Christie – She is always good for a nice mystery. I highly recommend And Then There Were None. I would avoid (at all costs) Endless Night.

To make it easy for you, I’ve gathered all of these books into one simple Bookshop.org list! Remember, Bookshop.org gives money back to independent bookstores.
